Swimmers and Coach Named Swimming All-Stars

200 IM – Ben Davis, University School
After making it to the podium in 2021 by finishing eighth, the sophomore followed that up with a fourth-place finish this year. He beat last year’s time by nearly four seconds and was just .27 seconds out of third in the Division II competition.
This is the ninth time Coach Perry has been recognized as the Coach of the Year by the Plain Dealer/ Cleveland.com. The News-Herald has named him Coach of the Year 16 times. In 2009, Mr. Perry was awarded the OHSAA Sportsmanship Ethics and Integrity Award, among the highest honors bestowed upon Ohio high school coaches.

500 Freestyle – Spencer Ernst, University School
Ernst finished on the podium for the second straight year in the Division II 500 freestyle. The senior finished sixth with a time of 4:41.69. He closed the event strong, as his final leg of 27.68 was his third-fastest of the event.

Coach of the year – Brian Perry, University School
The Preppers hoisted the state championship trophy for the first time since 2019. University School finished with nine podium finishes, with six individuals and three relays. The six individual podium finishes were spread out between five competitors, including diver Cameron Bizjak.
