US Swimming & Diving
Brian Perry ‘89 was appointed Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach at University School in 2000. He also teaches Math and Law at the Upper School.
Mr. Perry’s teams have achieved incredible success, having won nine OHSAA State Championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024). US has finished in the Top-5 at the State Meet 10 other times. His current dual meet record is 212-42-2 while competing against top ranked teams in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Mr. Perry has coached countless swimmers who have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, more than 25 of whom have earned All-America recognition. Mr. Perry has also coached four swimmers who participated in the 2012 Olympic Trials.

Mr. Perry has been recognized as the Coach of the Year 10 times by the Plain Dealer/ Cleveland.com, most recently in 2024. The News-Herald has named him Coach of the Year 16 times. In 2009, Mr. Perry was awarded the OHSAA Sportsmanship Ethics and Integrity Award, among the highest honors bestowed upon Ohio high school coaches.
Mr. Perry earned his bachelor of arts in Philosophy from DePauw University where he earned All-America honors in the pool, his JD from Indiana University, and his master of arts in education from Ursuline College. He and his wife, Rachel, have two children: Maggie and Brad ‘25.
