Adam Atwell was named Varsity Tennis Coach at University School in 2017. He also teaches Mathematics at the Upper School.
Coach Atwell inherited a program with a rich history, having won several State Championships, most recently in 2017. In 2019, Coach Atwell's team advanced to the Finals of the Division I State Championship. For decades, numerous University School tennis players have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels after earning All-Ohio and All-Region honors, as well as winning individual state titles.
Prior to US, Mr. Atwell taught math and coached varsity tennis at Landon School in Bethesda, MD. While at Landon, Mr. Atwell’s teams won seven conference titles, and he coached six players who went on to compete at NCAA Division I programs.
Mr. Atwell earned his bachelor of arts in mathematics from Kenyon College and his MST in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. He and his wife, Meghan, have two children: Arthur ‘29 and Pearl.
